About the role

Reporting to the Manager Mobile Maintenance your duties will include:

  • Oversee coordination of Maintenance effort with operations to ensure equipment availability is maximised in both the short and the long term
  • Manage the planning and scheduling of all Auxiliary Equipment Maintenance work and promote operating discipline in accordance with the 1SAP work management processes
  • Ensure collaboration with the Superintendents Mining Production and Mining Services in order to agree on a weekly maintenance schedule of work
  • Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling process meetings to ensure alignment and commitment of resources and plant to the work schedule
  • Ensure equipment dispatch and KPI reporting systems are kept up to date and reflect actual equipment status for down time and data is analysed to identify trends and target improvement opportunities
  • Monitor Original Equipment Manufacturer support to ensure effective cost and maintenance outcomes are achieved
  • Monitor the condition of the equipment by such means as: inspections; reviewing backlogs; KPIs; and delays to ensure it’s capable to achieve budget tonnes
  • Feedback into the equipment maintenance strategies as future preventive maintenance
  • Review and monitor maintenance performance on a weekly basis. Take steps to correct deviation from highlighted targets for planned man-hours and jobs achieved
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are fully competent to work effectively and safely and ensure all work is completed and properly recorded in SAP
  • Investigate reported events using the 1SAP work management process and instigate improvements where the maintenance function has primary accountability for controlling the risk
  • Drive the implementation and maintenance of a workplace organisation system in the Mobile Maintenance workshop
  • Undertake reviews of overall performance of the fleet and recommend major maintenance, upgrade or change-out standards for new equipment
  • Ensure in-pit water management is properly executed

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent industry/organisation experience with significant experience in Mining operations
  • Extensive experience in leading, coaching and mentoring employees to deliver on plan and building a competent, engaged and disciplined team
  • Working knowledge of the Mines Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Diploma in Frontline Management and qualification in Six Sigma are desirable
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across workgroups
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence

Location You will be based at our ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off roster (or similar). Jimblebar is the first BHP fully automated mine site and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at Warrawandu FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room, music room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
