About the role
BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world’s leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company’s operations currently involve an integrated system of seven mines, more than 1,600 kilometres of rail and two separate world class port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.
We are seeking a proactive and forward thinking individual to take on the key role of Specialist Approvals and Tenure within the Minerals Australia Planning Access and Studies team.
Committed to developing a culture driven by safety, quality and continuous improvement, your highly developed teamwork and interpersonal skills, combined with well developed technical skills and an eye for detail will be central to success in the role.
Reporting to the Superintendent Approvals and Tenure, you will contribute to the effective management of agreements relating to land tenure and obligation. You will be responsible for preparing tenure reports and spatial plans of tenure locations as well as ensuring statutory forms, reports and payments are lodged accurately and quickly.
Your other accountabilities will include:
With either a Tertiary, or near completed, Tertiary qualification in Law, geology, GIS or a related discipline or extensive experience in this area, your energy and drive will enable you to work well in a dynamic and challenging environment bringing a high attention to detail and the consistent ability to meet multiple deadlines.
A comprehensive working knowledge of the Land Administration Act, the Mining Act, the Native Title Act and associated processes along with experience in working with State Agreements and strong knowledge of infrastructure tenure such as easements and crown leases is required. Ideally you will have ArcGIS spatial mapping software experience.
Your technical strengths will be complemented by excellent engagement and communication skills. Proactive, credible and influential, you relate well with people, communicating confidently and building strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower – ‘City Square’.
