We are looking for an experienced surveyor who has an excellent understanding of building construction and of how the home can be adapted to meet the needs of older and disabled people.

Accessible Homes is a multidisciplinary service in the Communities Directorate of Bristol City Council. The team has Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Aides, Surveyors, Technicians and Caseworkers. The team works together to provide a service to adapt the homes of people who either through disability or old age need their home adapting to improve access. The aim is to enable people to continue to live independently for as long as possible.

You will be part of team of surveyors who working with OTs and Caseworkers will plan, design and oversee adaptation work in customers homes. You will liaise with contractors and other teams in BCC to ensure projects are completed to specification and on time.

You will have

  • A Building/construction qualification to at least HNC (or be currently studying towards) or relevant experience
  • A good understanding of the legalisation and relevant to the building profession including circulars, local and national policies etc
  • An excellent understanding of building construction and adapting homes,
  • a strong customer focus, be flexible and innovative in your work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working under pressure.
