WaferTech is an integrated circuit (IC) semiconductor foundry in the United States. Our customers (other businesses) partner with WaferTech to manufacture the computer chips that the client has designed. The chips that we make end up in a wide variety of products that the average consumer relies upon in their daily lives. Cell phones, pacemakers, cars, and security are some examples of how our semiconductors are used.

Located in Camas, Washington, 30 minutes northeast of Portland, Oregon, we are backed by the technological prowess of our parent company, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), creator and world leader in the semiconductor integrated circuit foundry industry.

The technician’s responsibilities will include: Maintain equipment to ensure zero impacts to manufacturing. Operate, maintain, and monitor chemical/CMP delivery, and gas delivery systems and/or vacuum and abatement systems. Perform daily operations to include reviewing monitoring equipment, taking rounds, giving/taking passdown to/from oncoming/offgoing shift, reading and reviewing trend data, and performing material/equipment change outs. Perform Preventive Maintenance and corrective maintenance on equipment using procedures, O&M manuals, drawings and diagrams. Working with Hazardous Production Materials and electrical/mechanical equipment. Use of Respirator/SCBA gear, wearing personnel protective equipment (PPE), safety shoes, working in cleanroom environment, forklift operations and some heavy lifting (50#) are required in an indoor/outdoor environment.

Responsible for performing the following: operations, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Gas/Chem/CMP/vacuum/abatement systems to ensure no impacts to production. Working alone or with other senior/junior technicians on shift. Becoming proficient in all facets of equipment knowledge by on the job training (OJT), manual reference, and able to train others afterwards. Ordering parts, maintaining budget, and keeping 6S safety and organization standards.

Work shift schedule is TBD, but we are a 24/7 facility with shifts that cover all hours. The technician will carry a pager and radio for on-duty call hours. May involve emergency overtime hours or special projects overtime hours.


Required Skills

  • Strong professional attitude with excellent teamwork skills, strong sense of work ethic ownership and reliable accountability in work execution and attendance.
  • Computer skills including: MS Office, and work application programs (reports, material ordering, and Shipping).
  • Knowledgeable and reliable in operating automated systems with associated HMI controls.
  • Mechanical abilities to perform system and equipment troubleshooting and repairs on gas/chemical/CMP/vacuum/abatement delivery units and support equipment.
  • Electronic experience to perform system and equipment troubleshooting and repairs on PLC controled systems, components, sensors, and other electronic devices.
  • Must meet minimum physicial requirements: i.e. working from ladders, lifting 50# loads, confined space entry, working 12 hr shifts which includes recurrent walking and standard breaks, wearing respirator and other PPE, and emergency response team member requirements
  • Ability to generate and follow written procedures, attend passdown meetings and exchange operational information between shifts.


Required Experience

  • Semiconductor experience preferred and any Gas/Chem/CMP/Vacuum/Abatement systems knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to work any shift, overtime hours, carry pager, wear safety boots, and be a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  • Associates Degree in related field OR 90 military credits OR 4-6 years equivalent experience in semiconductor environment
  • Internal candidates must have 42 STEM credits
