Inside Meghan Markle’s hen do – where there was one notable absentee

Her royal fella might be well known for loving a good knees-up, but Meghan Markle’s hen-do looked surprisingly calm.

Forget the trip to Blackpool or Cardiff wearing L-plates and drinking through willy straws.

“The thought of running around a city trying to get into clubs and wearing headbands of the phallic persuasion didn’t seem very ‘on brand’ for us,” she wrote on her now defunct blog The Tig when planning a close friend’s bridal shower.

So instead, the brid-to-be, 36, and her closest friends took a relaxing trip to private members’ club Soho Farmhouse, the Mirror reports.

The girls enjoyed a “celebration of friendship” that involved early bedtimes and a social media ban.

Here are all the details…

The venue

Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire.

Meghan’s close friend Markus Anderson is a consultant at the Soho House Group and helped set up the low-key bridal shower.

They enjoyed a lavish lunch at the estate’s four-bedroom Farm Cottage – a beautiful house with views overlooking the stunning green landscape.

“It was just a small get-together, something to celebrate the fact that there are just a couple of months to go before the wedding, and to wish her well,” a source told OK! magazine .

Instead the focus was on celebrating their friendship…

The guestlist

As well as Markus, the group was made up with Meghan’s glamorous American friends.

The jet-setting bunch included LA-based Heather Dorak – a former dancer who now owns a fitness business called Pilates Platinum.

The health-loving pals met when Heather trained Meghan in the states.

New York-based Lindsay Jill Ross is one of Meghan’s best friends from university.

The bride-to-be calls Lindsay her “sister” and Meghan was Lindsay’s maid of honour when she got married in Greece in 2016.

“I think people assume that when someone gains notoriety that they change,” Linsday once said of her pal.

“But she’s still the same girl I met years ago, with the same values and priorites.”

Millie Mackintosh, 28, was expected to be on the exclusive guest list as she visited the starry venue where she and Meghan were pictured together in 2016.

Fashion designer Mish Nonoo and fashion PR Violet von Westenholz are also thought to have been guests.

Notable absentees

Meghan’s future sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge was noticeably absent from the festivities.

Kate is around eight months pregnant and was said to be home resting ahead of a busy week of royal engagements.

Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland , 61, was also unable to make the bash.

She is based in LA but is thought to be making the journey for the wedding in May.

The activities

The celebration fell on the same day as the Oscars so the girls originally planned a viewing party and sleepover.

But as the ceremony began airing in the UK at midnight, it was deemed unsuitable for some of the guests to stay up that late – including Lindsay who has a newborn baby.

Instead it’s thought the guests took advantage of the fine dining options available on site.

There’s also a food truck that brings a full English breakfast straight to the door of guests.

The exclusive venue also has two swimming pools, a boating lake and a small cinema.

The social media ban

Meghan and Harry have both previously visited the farmhouse that’s hosted A-list celebs from Eddie Redmayne to Alexa Chung and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

So considering the clientele it’s unsurprising there’s a site-wide camera phone ban.

Despite regulars often flouting the rules, there’s a ban on social media.

Meghan’s second hen do

It’s thought Meghan will enjoy a second bridal shower closer to her wedding on May 19.

Speaking to crowds on a recent trip to Edinburgh with Prince Harry she said the party was “sorted” and “will be fun”.

Next time her mum and sister-in-law Kate Middleton may be involved.

Other friends including Made In Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh, Tennis champion Serena Williams and her Suits co-star Priyanka Chopra may also make their way onto the guestlist.
