Robin is a 35-year-old account manager who lives “in the suburbs.” She says “It’s great for families, but not as great for a single woman.” Robin says “I like to think I’m ‘stylish-chic.’ I never leave home without a designer purse on my arm.” Robin says she is “witty and charming. Humour is essential in my life. I have a big heart, and I’m easy to love.” She likes having drinks with girlfriends, and adds “I love all things food. I love dining out and then replicating the dish at home with my own twist.” Robin says “I recently dropped my height requirement for men from 6’3” to 6’. Just kidding!”
I went to a bar with a friend. We were looking cute and acting like we didn’t care. At some point while we were catching up, I felt an energy, like someone was watching me. I looked up and locked eyes with the most beautiful man I had ever seen. He had dark curly hair and stunning eyes. We spent the rest of the evening glancing at each other, then looking away. As his group was leaving, he came up to me and made conversation. He was polite and funny. He asked for my number, and said he’d be in touch the next
Tyler messaged me the next
Tyler planned the date, and chose a quaint family restaurant. We met there, because I have a rule about taking my own mode of transportation on a first date. Tyler arrived first and waited outside for me. As soon as I parked, he walked over and opened the door for me. I loved that. My ex used to walk three steps in front of me, and barely held doors open.
We started the night with a hug and walked hand in hand into the restaurant. Tyler rearranged the seats at the table and made sure I was comfortable. I loved how caring he was. He ordered a bunch of dishes for us to share. I love a man that takes charge with permission and subtly.

He was a great conversationalist, and usually I am, too, but I found myself doing a lot more listening than talking because I was mesmerized by Tyler’s looks and enthusiasm. We agreed with each other on most topics. We even talked about our exes. I really liked how respectful he was about his ex.
Throughout dinner Tyler held my hand across the table when he could. He ordered cake for dessert, and we shared it and fed each other a couple of times. It was as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. I loved how attentive he was. He didn’t take his eyes off of me the whole time. It was so nice to spend time with a gentleman.
We ended the night with a fairytale kiss. I drove off really excited about the night, and looking forward to the next date.
We went out a few more times. Dinner, coffee, walks. I like to take it slow, to make sure that I’m with someone who is honest and trustworthy. I need a genuine connection and to be with someone romantic. Just as I was starting to think this was going to land in the “relationship” category, it crashed.
One day I was sitting on my couch, watching TV, and Tyler texted me. I saw his name and felt fuzzy and warm inside, until I opened the message and saw a very intimate picture — unsolicited. OMG. It took me completely by surprise. He apparently thought one image wasn’t enough, so he sent a second one, from a different angle. Our dates had been great, but that was the end of that.
