Holly Willoughby says Phillip Schofield would be the first to "make a stand" over any This Morning pay gap

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have a pretty strong partnership presenting on This Morning and Dancing on Ice, and a friendship that could withstand some pretty sensitive topics โ€“ including the gender pay gap.

The gender pay gap has been a huge problem across all employment sectors, with showbiz salaries being the ones splashed across the headlines, but Holly said it isn’t a problem with her and Phil.

In an interview with The Guardian, she admitted that it is a topic that she doesn’t like speculating about as contracts can be across several TV presenting gigs rather than based on just one show, so she treads carefully when discussing it.

“I feel like I’m speculating and it’s such a sensitive area and I don’t want to get it wrong. I feel like I might be putting my foot in it,” she said.

She did say that if it did come out that Phil was being paid significantly more than her now, then he would definitely have something to say about it.

“The first person that would be outraged is Phil, actually!” Holly told the newspaper.

“He’d be devastated. He would be the first person to make a stand. He protects me in every other area of my life, so there’s no way he wouldn’t do that.”

Well, except when he films her getting stuck in doors of course!

This Morning airs daily on ITV.
