A family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said that the family are delighted that things have been extended until the end of September

He said: โ€œThey are very encouraged that the Met Police still believe there is work left to be done and they are incredibly grateful to the Home Office for providing an extra budget for the investigation.โ€

The Home Office also said: “The Government remains committed to the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.”

Maddie went missing during a family trip to the Portuguese holiday spot of Praia De Luz back in 2007.

The funding for her search has caused a lot of debate of late.
