Mum takes ‘bullied’ son out of school after she saw shocking Facebook footage of him fighting another pupil

A furious mother has pulled her son out of school after seeing a video of him fighting with another pupil.

Emma Loche only found out about the incident when her daughter stumbled across the video on Facebook and showed it to her.

She now fears her son is being bullied after seeing the video showing youths gathered around watching two Humberston Academy pupils fight in St Christopher’s Park, Grimsby after school.

The bystanders are seen laughing as the boys exchanged punches until an adult intervened.

Emma said: “I am angry with the people who stood and watched, laughing.

“One of them filmed it and posted it on Facebook.”

The footage was posted soon after the fight at around 3pm on Wednesday.

It is understood to have been widely viewed and shared – and wasn’t removed until 24 hours later.

She has called for tighter regulation of social media.

She told the Grimsby Telegraph: “It should be monitored better because young people might start thinking it is okay to film violence. It is wrong. You don’t know where it could end up.”

Emma said she posted a message on Facebook criticising all those who had shared the footage of the fight.

“The fight had been arranged in school to take place after school.”

She believes her son is being bullied and has kept him off school since the incident.

Whilst the incident did not happen in school time or on school grounds, Humberston Academy is investigating it and says all pupils are taught about the appropriate use of social media.

Acting principal, Dan Shoubridge said: “This was an isolated incident that occurred outside of school and we are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation.

“Needless to say, we are treating the matter very seriously and do not tolerate this kind of behaviour.

“We have a relentless focus on educating our students about the appropriate use of social network sites and technology and ensuring it is used in a positive forum.

“However, students, parents and carers have a moral responsibility to monitor this behaviour as well.”

A Humberside Police spokesman said officers will be liaising with the school and they are conducting an investigation.
