History Teacher to start Sept 18

We are working on behalf of one of our secondary schools to recruit a History teacher for the new academic year. The school is a mixed, mainstream, non-denominational secondary school. This community state school in Lewisham, south-east London, caters for pupils aged 11-16 and aims to provide local children with an excellent education.

The school is a smaller-than-average secondary school, hosting up to 1,100 pupils at full capacity. Bill Gates visited in January 2012 and praised the social consciousness of the students.

Values and vision

The School strives to provide a learning environment that is both engaging and enjoyable. With a variety of extracurricular activities to choose from, pupils are encouraged to try new things and get involved. The school has a school leadership programme to prepare students to take a leading role in society later in life.
The school’s specialist subjects are the humanities, with English, citizenship and drama some of the top-rated. They successfully instil into their pupils an acceptance of different cultures, which is aided by its very diverse student population.

Ofsted report

“Pupils’ personal development and welfare is seen as a high priority by all staff. Pupils are known very well and there are strong links with parents and the community. Consequently, many pupils feel safe and well cared for and thrive.”
