Finance and Administration Officer – AONTAS – Dublin

AONTAS is Ireland’s national adult learning organisation for adult and community education providers and adult learners. It promotes the value and benefits of adult learning, and advocates on behalf of the sector. Founded in 1969, it is an independent NGO, with 500 members nationwide. With particular emphasis on those who did not benefit from education initially or who are under-represented in learning, AONTAS’ work is aimed at:

  • Widening participation in lifelong learning
  • Ensuring community education supports quality learning opportunities for the most educationally disadvantaged
  • Ensuring adult learners are central to local, regional, national, European and International adult learning policy
  • Promoting quality adult learning

AONTAS is seeking to recruit a Finance and Administration Officer. The key objective of this role is to ensure that the finance and administration requirements are met and delivered to the highest standards, providing efficient and effective support to the work of AONTAS.

Requirements

Finance:

  • Financial administration support including dealing with purchases queries, sales queries, invoicing, cheque payments, supplier and customer payments in TAS Books
  • Preparation of monthly reconciliations including bank, credit card and petty cash
  • Upkeep of monthly analyses
  • Monthly review of aged debtors and creditors
  • Other routine financial support as required by Finance Lead

Administrative:

  • Answering phones and tending to general reception duties
  • Assist all teams with general administrative duties
  • Responsible for all membership administration including applications, membership communications, mail shots and queries as required
  • Provide administrative support for ERASMUS+ and EAAL projects
  • Ensure that the Salesforce system is kept up to date and contains relevant contacts with Office Manager
  • Provide high quality administrative support to the organisation in general (day to day) and to the Adult Learners’ Festival, AONTAS meetings including Annual General Meeting (AGM), General Meeting (GM), Community Education Network (CEN), National FET Learner Forum (NFLF) in collaboration with and support of Communications and Events Officer, CEN Coordinator and the Learner Advocacy Officer as required
  • Identify and agree training needs and opportunities with Finance Lead and undertaking other such duties as may be assigned by CEO
  • Act as secretariat to Adult Learner Journal and general administration of same

The job requirements are as follows:


Core Requirements:

  • Clear understanding of financial and administration tasks

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong PC skills, proficiency in MS Office and Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems

Benefits

This is a fixed term employment contract for a two year period. A probation period of six months to eleven months will apply. AONTAS offers a pension scheme with 10% of salary contributed by the employer. Employees are required to join the AONTAS pension scheme on completion of probation, contributing 5% of salary. There is a facility to pay Additional Voluntary Contributions. AONTAS provides an income protection scheme for staff. Annual leave is 22 days, rising to 23 after 5 years’ service and to 24 after 10 years’ service. The AONTAS Office is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. The basic working week is 37 hrs. However the work of the Finance Administration Officer requires flexibility with some unsocial hours and travel.

The salary offered will be commensurate with experience and will be within the parameters of the salary scale equivalent of a Clerical Officer in the Public Service (2016).

Euro €22,565 – 23,618 – 24,312 – 25,351 – 26,389 – 27,428 – 28,465 – 29,485 – 30,493 – 31,192 – 32,187 – 33,735 – 34,954¹ – 35,515².
