  • Is involved in any major changes in room design and public areas to ensure they allow for efficient maintenance
  • Recommends changes in methods, equipment or staff to improve Housekeeping standards / productivity
  • Defines service standards regarding cleanliness, amenities and maintenance in rooms and public areas and ensure adherence to these
  • Prepares capital expenditure and operational budget for housekeeping
  • Prepare repair schedule for rooms keeping in mind optimum utilization of room inventory
  • Controls all department master keys
  • Defines the organization of work within the department including assignments, time schedules and vacations
  • Maintains all hotel uniforms and linen and controls issues, returns, alterations, purchases
  • Maintains records of recommends repairs to discarded furniture, artifacts in rooms and public areas
  • Coordinates with materials and engineering to ensure that renovations and project jobs are carried out as per standards and specifications
  • Ensures quality of housekeeping supplies to the hotel by approving samples that meet standards and specifications
  • Is fully prepared for and ensures housekeeping staff is adequately trained in procedures for fire alarms , bomb threats and other safety requirements
  • Ensures that all housekeeping and guest room equipment is maintained and is safe for staff and Guest use
  • Constantly monitors key performance indicators for the department and takes corrective action
  • Establishes modifies and ensures systems and procedure to increase efficiency and improve service levels for the housekeeping department
  • Ensures adherence to company and hotel policies by all department employees by all samples that meet hotel standards
  • Ensures that samples are tested properly and in approving samples that meet hotel standards
  • Ensure that linen and uniforms are checked for quality before issue to user
  • Ensures that all guest floors receive change of linen as per regular standards
  • Keeps records of linen and uniforms requisitioned, used ,discarded
  • Conduct, checks and discards linen audit from time from time
  • Maintains operational inventory of all linen and uniform
  • Supervise all new stitching and repair work done by tailors
  • Segregate linen for re-utilization
  • Follow up with Purchase department supplier for scheduled deliveries
  • Maintains, reviews and initiates stock changes
