Centre for Doctoral Training Manager
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Freshwater Biosciences and Sustainability, to work and contribute within a fast paced, new and exciting environment.
As the Manager you will be responsible for the Natural Environmental Research Council (NERC) GW4 Freshwater Bioscience and Sustainability (Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT)) Administrative Hub. You will be working with the CDT Director to deliver the CDT objectives to ensure effective day-to-day operation of the CDT.
The CDT will be located within the Water Research Institute (Cardiff School of Biosciences), which was recently launched as part of Cardiff University’s flagship research Institutes to address key societal challenges. Bringing together 9 Schools (Biosciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Business, Earth Sciences, Psychology, Journalism, Maths and Geography), the Institute focuses on addressing the challenge of ‘Water for people and ecosystems in a changing world’. From October 2018, the NERC Centre for Doctoral Training in Freshwater Biosciences and Sustainability (GW4 FRESH CDT) will provide a world-class doctoral research and training environment, for the next generation of interdisciplinary freshwater scientists equipped to tackle future global water challenges. You would be working with and providing important administrative support to the newly establishing Centre.
GW4 FRESH harnesses freshwater scientists from four of the UK’s most research-intensive universities (Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter) plus world-class research organisations the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) and British Geological Survey (BGS). The GW4 Alliance has recognised training expertise and leads 31 RCUK doctoral training initiatives. GW4 FRESH builds on this legacy and has established networks in place, with tried and tested collaboration agreements, and exceptional long-standing stakeholder support from a range of backgrounds.
As the Manager you will work to develop the CDT’s strategy in direct partnership with the CDT Director, manage efficient operating procedures for the Centre, as a key point of contact with stakeholders and coordinate the delivery of the training programme, events and CDT website.

This is a full time position, fixed term for a period of 5 years and 11 months starting August 2018.
Salary: £32,548 – £38,833 per annum (Grade 6)
